India’s Cherry blossom festival starts in Shillong!

When these deep pink flowers blossom, you know the winter season is here. Winter in Shillong is lively and dynamic, with the offset of the autumn festival .The North East part of India is beautiful and in every winter, cherry blossoms makes the area gorgeous, the lovely pink color trees add color to the winter atmosphere and the carpet of pink petals is just stunning. Every year Shillong in Northeast hosts an India International cherry blossom festival and the third edition of the festival is here.

The 3rd India International Cherry Blossom Festival 2018 will celebrate the exclusive autumn flowering of Himalayan Cherry Blossoms with several cultural events at Shillong, Meghalaya. In the event the Visitors can relish fashion shows, rock concerts, a beauty pageant and Golf Tournament as well.

Also people set up stalls depicting the region’s food, crafts and drinks, several Japanese cultural shows will also happen.

This year the festival will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma and the opening ceremony will be attended by the Japanese Ambassador to India, Kenji Hiramatsu.

The first cherry blossom festival in Shillong was held in 2016. The event was also graced by Kenji Hiramatsu.

Venue:  The date is: November 14 to 17 and it will take place at Polo 5th Ground.

This event is the signature event of the India International Cherry Blossom Festival 2018, which is organized by the Forest and Environment Department, Govt of Meghalaya, Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
